The Committee on Administration (COA) has approved an EPC Indianapolis Emergency Relief Fund in response to the disaster that hit that city on Saturday, November 10. Two people were killed, as many as five homes were destroyed and up to 80 homes were damaged in the Saturday night explosion. The cause of the explosion is still under investigation.  Click here for photos.

Southport Presbyterian Church, located less than two miles from the disaster area is serving as the primary temporary shelter for those left homeless by the blast. It is also the primary distribution center of relief supplies. Pastor Rob Hock said hundreds of Southport members have been helping victims at the church and in the neighborhood where the explosion occurred. He added that many Southport members live in the neighborhood; some had helped in the rescue efforts immediately after the explosion.

Donations to the EPC Indianapolis Emergency Relief Fund will support Southport’s ministry of compassion, care and justice for victims of this disaster. For more information about Southport and its ministry to its community in its time of great need, go to www.southportpc.org.
