A record 1,500 commissioners, their families, and visitors will gather June 16-21 at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church in Knoxville, Tennessee, for the 34th General Assembly, the annual national meeting of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Events begin on Tuesday, June 17, with an afternoon workshop on “Healthy Habits for a Sustainable Life and Ministry” and a World Outreach reception, dinner, and program.
Bob Roberts, founding and senior pastor of NorthWood Church near Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas, will keynote the Assembly Workshop on Wednesday, June 18. He will challenge and encourage attendees on the themes of Kingdom (from conversion to transformation), Disciple (making disciples for the world), Society (our job as our primary ministry), and Church (multiplying churches out of our churches).
On Wednesday evening, the Assembly will welcome noted pastor and author Tim Keller, who will preach at a worship service led by Cedar Springs. Other keynote speakers through the week include George Carey (EPC World Outreach Director), Bill Dudley (Moderator, 33rd General Assembly), David Dwight (Hope Church, Richmond, Virginia), and Scott Bowen (First Presbyterian Church, Opelika, Alabama). Business sessions begin on Thursday morning and adjourn at noon on Saturday. Opportunities to connect with others in ministry abound, with more than 20 networking lunches, and a variety of events hosted by EPC Women In Ministry.
A live stream of the General Assembly workshop, worship services, and business meetings from the sanctuary of Cedar Springs will be available at www.epc.org/ga2014docs from June 18-21.
Pray that God would be glorified in the worship of the General Assembly, that the Commissioners would have God’s wisdom in their deliberations, and that those who are gathered will be encouraged and strengthened, and will return to their ministries refreshed and better equipped to follow God in His mission.
