GA 2021 WOMEN’S EVENTS

Ladies are welcome at all GA activities and events, but these gatherings are specifically designed for women attending the 41st General Assembly. We hope you’ll join us and be encouraged in your walk with Christ!

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 23

TESS TALKS DINNER PROGRAM: “GROWING AS WORD-FILLED WOMEN”

5:30–7:00 p.m.
Speakers: Mary Willson Hannah, Leesa Jensen, Kelsie Ellison, Rong Guo
Location: C100 (Campus Map, Section C)

Are you eager to make personal and corporate progress in hearing, doing, and retelling God’s Word? So are we! We will enjoy fellowship and hear encouragement from sisters who are aiming to grow as Word-filled women and help lead the women at Second Presbyterian Church to do the same.

Modeled after the popular “Ted Talks,” TESS (Teaching, Encouragement, and Spiritual Sustenance) Talks offer practical discussions on topics of interest for women across the EPC.

Mary Willson Hannah

Mary is Director of Women’s Ministry at Second Presbyterian Church in Memphis, Tennessee.

Leesa Jensen

Leesa has been a member of Second Presbyterian Church in Memphis since 1984. She currently serves on the women’s Bible study teaching team. She previously was a Bible Study Fellowship Teaching Leader for 23 years.

Kelsie Ellison

Kelsie ministers to college students through Campus Outreach in Memphis. She also serves on the women’s Bible study teaching team at Second Presbyterian Church. She is pursuing a Masters of Biblical Studies degree at Reformed Theological Seminary. She enjoys growing in her knowledge of God through His Word and making Him known through evangelizing and discipling women. Kelsie and her husband, Kevin, have a newborn son. 

Rong Guo

Rong came to the U.S. in 1999, accepted Jesus as her personal Savior in 2000, and was baptized at Second Presbyterian Church in 2001. Trained as a surgeon in China, she currently works as a regulatory specialist for Medtronic, a medical device company where she has also served as a Chaplain for Medtronic’s Memphis chapter.

Since 2010, she has actively shared the gospel with unbelievers who are new to Memphis from China. From 2015 to 2018, she served as an Assistant Youth Group Teacher at Memphis Chinese Evangelical Church. Since 2016 she has been a Children’s Leader with Bible Study Fellowship.

THURSDAY, JUNE 24

MINISTRY WIVES LUNCHEON

11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
Topic: “The Joys and Challenges of Following Christ as a Ministry Spouse”
Speakers: Lynn Erickson, Gina Johnson, Sarah Sadlow
Location: EC1114—The Commons (Campus Map, Section EC)

Come enjoy refreshing conversation with fellow ministry spouses. We will hear some minister’s wives share the joys and challenges they have faced—and are facing—as they seek to honor Christ in their context.

Lynn Erickson

Lynn has served alongside her husband, Todd, for the entirety of their 33 years of marriage. They have been serving at Second Presbyterian Church for the past 20 years. She enjoys teaching preschool girls during the school year, and loves having the summer to recharge!

Gina Johnson

Gina is the mother of three young children and serves as Outreach Coordinator for Advance Memphis, a non-profit organization that focuses on work-force development. Her husband, Tim, is an EPC church planter and Pastor of The Avenue Community Church in Memphis.

Sarah Sadlow

Sarah is a 34-year member of Second Presbyterian Church. Her husband, Ron, served on staff at Second for 32 years, primarily as Minister of World Missions. They have three grown children and 10 grandchildren, as well as many friends around the world  they count as family.

FRIDAY, JUNE 25

NETWORKING LUNCH: FEMALE TEACHING ELDERS (AND CANDIDATES)

All female Teaching Elders (and female candidates for TE ordination) are invited to join us for an opportunity to connect, encourage, and pray for one another. Please note that this lunch is specifically designed and reserved for female Teaching Elders (and ordination candidates).
