A May 1 called meeting of the General Assembly approved a motion to reschedule the 40th General Assembly from June 23-26, 2020, to September 17-18, 2020. By action of Commissioners vote in the called meeting, the 40th General Assembly will now be business only, with no Leadership Institute on Tuesday or Wednesday. Office of the General Assembly staff is exploring the possibility of providing virtual as well as on-site participation for Commissioners.

The information below reflects the schedule and speakers as of March 2020 and is subject to significant change depending on the outcome of the called meeting on May 1.

Hope Church is in Cordova, a suburb on the east side of Memphis. The church campus is south of Interstate 40 and east of Interstate 240, just east of Shelby Farms Park. Parking lots are accessible from two entrances on Walnut Grove Road. Building entrances for GA are 1, 2 and 3. Handicap parking is available directly in front of entrances 2 and 3 (west lot). Those bringing children should park closest to entrance 3. Blue dot parking is for those who need close parking but aren’t eligible for a handicap spot.

Financial assistance to offset travel costs for ministers and Ruling Elders from smaller EPC churches is available from the Moderator’s Scholarship Fund. Funds are limited, and Letters of Request should be received by April 30. You can email your Letter of Request to or mail to:

Memorials Form

For notifying the Memorials and Appreciation Committee of EPC Ruling Elders and Teaching Elders who have passed away since the previous Assembly.


There are no “official” General Assembly hotels this year. Commissioners are encouraged to use a hotel aggregate site, such as Expedia,, Kayak, Priceline, TripAdvisor, or others to make hotel reservations. Cordova and Germantown are the nearest locations to Hope Church, which is located at 8500 Walnut Grove Rd. in Cordova.

Rental cars are encouraged for those flying into Memphis, since there is no commercial shuttle service to the Cordova/Germantown area and the hotels are approximately 10-15 minutes (driving) from the church. There is plenty of parking at Hope Church.

Shuttle service between hotels and Hope Church will not be provided. Carpooling is a good option (or using Uber or Lyft) for those who do not have personal transportation and do not want to rent a vehicle.
